Amarinth Delivers £1.5 Million Chemical Injection Skids for Nigeria’s LNG Operations

UK-based pump specialist, Amarinth, has announced the successful completion of a significant order for the African energy sector. The company manufactured and delivered four bespoke API 675 chemical injection skid packages, valued at £1.5 million, destined for major LNG field operations in Nigeria’s Niger Delta.

The sophisticated skids will be deployed at the Soku and Gbaran LNG fields, operated by Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited. Their critical role is to protect vital pipeline infrastructure by performing precision chemical injection, preventing corrosion and scale build-up in the gas transport systems that feed the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) plant on Bonny Island.

Engineered for Harsh Environments and Seamless Integration

Recognising the challenging environmental and operating conditions of the Niger Delta, Amarinth engineered the skids with several innovative features to ensure reliability and simplify logistics:

  • Compact & Robust Design: Built to stringent API 675 standards, each skid includes advanced instrumentation like actuated valves and remote monitoring transmitters, allowing for precise control from a centralised control room.
  • “Ready-to-Run” Delivery: The skids were delivered fully pre-assembled and factory-tested. This “ready-to-run” configuration, complete with structural components and spare parts, significantly reduces the need for hazardous on-site work during installation.
  • Bespoke Engineering: For the Soku field project specifically, Amarinth developed a custom support frame. This allowed the skid packages to be installed directly over existing concrete plinths, enabling seamless integration within the facility’s current building dimensions without any additional civil works.
  • Logistical Ingenuity: The skids were cleverly designed to fit within standard shipping containers. This simplified transport across Nigeria’s road network and avoided the need for special transport permits.

The project comprised two specialised equipment sets: one pairing a biocide injection skid with an oxygen scavenger injection skid, and another combining a biocide injection skid with a scale inhibitor injection skid. Local expertise was provided by partner Elkarino Nigeria Ltd.

A Testament to Engineering Agility

Delivering such a complex order within a demanding 39-week timeframe highlights Amarinth’s project management and engineering capabilities.

Oliver Brigginshaw, Managing Director of Amarinth, commented on the project’s significance: “The delivery of these skids within a demanding 39-week timeframe is a testament to our engineering agility and our commitment to the African energy sector. Nigeria ranks tenth in global petroleum reserves, and this latest project further underlines our lead in providing sustainable, high-performance solutions for critical energy infrastructure around the globe.”

This successful delivery reinforces Amarinth’s position as a key provider of high-performance solutions for the global energy industry, particularly in demanding and logistically complex regions.
