These electric driven high head booster pumps are used for mine dewatering in Macedonia. One unit is driven by a 160 kW motor and the other pumpset is driven by a 400 kW motor.
Due to risk for flooding the customer decided to use submersible pumps instead of the a standard priming system. By using this option, the mine operators have the possibility to install the BBA Pumps up to 30 meters above the mine water level. With this flooded suction set-up the BBA Pumps are on safe position and not subject to flooding.
Duty point of the mining pumps
For a booster pump installation as applied here, the submersible pumps and the dry installed high head pump must deliver the same pump flow. In this case, the volume flow is 100 l/s. Once the BBA Pumps are filled with mine water they boost it to the discharge point. And that part shows very impressive figures, the 160 kW driven high head pump delivers a pressure of 9.5 bar at the mentioned flow. And the 400 kW powerful mining pump is able to reach a pressure of 16 bar!
