Difference Between NRI v/s OCI

NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) and OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India) are two different categories of Indian citizens who live outside of India.

NRIs are Indian citizens who live abroad but maintain their Indian citizenship. They are required to pay taxes in India on their global income and are also eligible to vote in Indian elections.

OCIs, on the other hand, are individuals of Indian origin who have acquired citizenship of another country but have been granted lifelong visa-free travel to India. They are not required to pay taxes in India, but they are not eligible to vote in Indian elections.

In general, NRIs have more rights and responsibilities in India than OCIs, but both categories of citizens are able to retain their connection to India and access certain benefits and privileges.
