FLSmidth has been selected as the strategic technology partner and supplier of all major process technologies for the Black Volta gold project in Ghana, developed by Azumah Resources Gh Limited.
The project, which is located in West Africa, is expected to become the first fully Ghanaian-owned gold mine in the country.
The order covers long-lead equipment and associated technical support services with a total value of approximately DKK235 million.
FLS will supply a comprehensive range of comminution, classification and materials handling equipment, including gyratory crushers, a Raptor cone crusher, SAG and ball mills, screens and apron feeders. The order includes Krebs cyclones and pumps, which will play a central role in classification and process efficiency within the grinding circuit. The package also features a pre-leach thickener, as well as equipment for absorption, desorption and refining, along with detoxification systems, providing a complete gold processing flowsheet.
Beyond equipment supply, FLS will support the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor during the detailed engineering phase. The company will also provide on-site support for erection, installation, start-up and commissioning, as well as site training. Spare parts supply and a performance guarantee for the process equipment are also included in the contract.
“We are very happy to receive this complete flowsheet order for this key gold project and partner with the miner in the development of the first fully Ghanaian owned gold mine in Ghana,” said Julian Soles, Products Business Line president at FLS. “Our proven ability in providing an industry-leading and productivity maximising gold flowsheet combined with our capability to supply services and parts to this region throughout the lifecycle of the project were key factors in customer’s decision to partner with FLS on this key project.”
Equipment deliveries are scheduled throughout 2026, ahead of the planned mine start-up in 2027.
