The Indian Premier League (IPL) is India’s 22nd professional  cricket league. One of the most popular cricket leagues in the world, it is known for its top-class fixtures and top-class line-ups. The league was established in 2008 and is governed by the Indian Cricket Control Board  (BCCI). The IPL takes place from March to May each year and features some of the best cricketers in the world. The league is a franchise-based format and currently consists of 12 teams representing different cities in India.
