Job Summary
The Field Service Technician is a key member of the service team responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing Flowserve pumps and related equipment at customer sites across industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, and wastewater. This role involves hands-on servicing of a wide range of pumping systems directly at customer facilities—including refineries, chemical plants, pumping stations, oil rigs, and industrial production sites. Responsibilities include equipment removal, inspection, repair, rebuild, reinstallation, commissioning, field diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and preparation of detailed electronic service reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and general service activities on Flowserve and competitor equipment at customer locations.
Serve as the on-site technical contact, coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers during critical service operations.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries, directing them to the appropriate internal resources when needed.
Diagnose and repair pumps and mechatronic equipment both in the field and within the Flowserve Quick Response Center (QRC) workshop.
Conduct troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, and on-site repair tasks with attention to safety and quality.
Verify service accuracy and quality while performing inspections and test procedures.
Adjust, optimize, and modify hardware or software parameters in line with customer-specific equipment requirements.
Analyze defects, recommend corrective actions, and support preventative maintenance initiatives.
Prepare accurate service documentation and reports for customer and internal review.
Qualifications
State-certified technician in electrical engineering or equivalent technical background gained through other training or experience.
Completed mechanical engineering apprenticeship with strong mechanical and fitting skills, particularly related to small or modular pump systems.
Solid knowledge of pumps and mechanical seals.
Experience with laser alignment tools is an advantage.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Background in the chemical, power, or oil and gas industries.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain composed under pressure or tight deadlines.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, be flexible to travel on short notice, work extended or irregular hours, and stay on assignment away from home when required.
Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance with client permit-to-work systems.
Proficiency in English, with strong writing and communication skills for reporting and customer interaction.
Competent computer skills; experience with SAP R/3 is a plus.
