Indirect Tax Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Indirect Tax Specialist supports the Tax Director and Tax Manager in executing all aspects of indirect tax compliance, exemption certificate oversight, and audit coordination for a large U.S.–based multinational organization. This role ensures accurate tax reporting, timely filings, and effective communication with both internal teams and external tax authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and compile all data required for indirect tax filings and related reports.

Ensure indirect tax returns are completed and submitted accurately and on schedule.

Assist with tax audits, including managing documentation requests and responding to tax authority inquiries.

Partner with Finance, Accounting, and IT teams to maintain accurate tax accounting and system data.

Provide guidance on the tax implications of business operations and transactions.

Contribute to the development and improvement of indirect tax processes, policies, and strategies.

Coordinate with external audit firms and tax advisors as necessary.

Stay informed on legislative updates and assess their impact on the company’s tax position.

Conduct tax research and prepare recommendations on complex tax issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax.

2–4 years of progressive experience in indirect tax within a multinational corporation or public accounting firm.

CPA, CPA candidate, or CMI certification strongly preferred.

Solid knowledge of sales and use tax regulations.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.

Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel.

Preferred Skills

Experience using tax research platforms such as CCH, RIA, and BNA.

Working knowledge of OneSource Indirect Tax (IDT).

Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, and/or Workiva.

Prior involvement in process improvements.

Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field.
