Job Summary
The New Product Development (NPD) Test Lab Engineer plays a key role in supporting the full spectrum of testing activities for new products. This position contributes to concept development, test design, equipment fabrication, automation programming, and execution of hands-on physical testing. Acting as a technical expert for LabVIEW programming and test systems, the engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to advance product performance, ensure engineering excellence, and support the development of innovative, industry-leading solutions within the Pumps Division.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with project teams to design and execute testing strategies that enable development of high-performance products.
Serve as the technical authority for LabVIEW-based graphical programming, including code design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and version control.
Develop and integrate automated test systems and implement new test programs.
Lead safety standardization initiatives across all NPD Test Lab locations.
Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through continuous learning and industry engagement.
Diagnose equipment issues, mechanical failures, or test stand malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
Support customers by providing accurate test data, timely delivery, and thorough root cause analysis of test equipment issues.
Assist with upkeep and operation of high-precision measurement and instrumentation systems.
Apply engineering standards to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive performance in product designs and testing processes.
Coordinate with customer engineering teams on test plans, design improvements, and process optimization.
Develop technical training programs to enhance the capabilities of testing personnel.
Lead the specification, design, and procurement of test fixtures, tooling, and materials.
Standardize and enhance LabVIEW programming practices for improved consistency and efficiency.
Stay informed about emerging technologies and testing trends through research, conferences, and collaboration with internal and external experts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to creatively apply technology to meet project needs.
Comfortable performing hands-on assembly, test setups, and physical tasks (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to interpret and create equipment manuals and P&ID diagrams.
Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
On-site work required Monday–Thursday in Bethlehem, PA; Fridays are remote-capable with occasional on-site needs.
Preferred Skills
Experience in 2D/3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
Background in rotating machinery and motor-driven systems.
Experience preparing and managing test documentation.
NI LabVIEW certification or strong familiarity with graphical programming.
