Peristaltic Piston Pumps

Peristaltic pumps, as mentioned earlier, use a rotating mechanism with rollers or shoes to compress and release a flexible tube or hose, creating a peristaltic or squeezing action to move fluids. These pumps are often used for gentle pumping, accurate dosing, and handling sensitive or viscous fluids.

Piston pumps, on the other hand, utilize reciprocating pistons within a cylinder to generate fluid flow. As the piston moves back and forth, it creates suction on the intake stroke and pressurizes the fluid on the discharge stroke. Piston pumps are commonly used in high-pressure applications, such as hydraulic systems, where precise control and high-pressure capabilities are required.

While peristaltic pumps and piston pumps have their distinct advantages and applications, they are not typically combined into a single pump design called a “peristaltic piston pump.” It’s possible that a specific manufacturer or application may have developed a pump that combines elements from both pump types, but it would be a specialized and less common configuration.
