Snakes and Ladders is a traditional Indian board game  played with dice, also known  in the West as “chutes and ladders”. The game is played on a square board, usually made of cardboard or plastic, with numbered squares and illustrations of snakes and ladders.

The object of the game is to roll the dice and move the pawns in a square to reach the finish line. If the  player lands at the bottom of the ladder, they can move  to the top of the ladder and continue on the board. If the player lands on the snake’s head, they must slide back down to the snake’s tail.

Snakes and Ladders is a simple game, suitable for players of all ages and  often played with family and friends. The game is believed to have originated in ancient India and is associated with the moral precept that ladders represent good deeds and  snakes represent bad deeds.
