Thanksgiving Day
Observed on the fourth Thursday of November both in the United States and Canada, Thanksgiving Day celebrates the harvest as well as other blessings from the past year. Generally speaking, Americans believe Thanksgiving is a celebration modeled after the harvest feast between the English colonists (Pilgrims) of Plymouth and the Wampanoag. There is a great deal of symbolism and legend associated with the American Thanksgiving holiday, and the traditional meal usually includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. During the holiday season, family members gather to spend time with one another, which makes vehicular traffic busy.
