Vishnu Puja
Vishnu puja is a Hindu ritual dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the most important gods in Hinduism and the preserver of the universe. The puja is performed to seek his blessings and guidance, to remove obstacles and difficulties, and to attain peace, prosperity, and success in all aspects of life. The puja involves the creation of a sacred space, the installation of a Vishnu idol or picture, the offering of flowers, fruits, sweets, and other auspicious items, and the recitation of mantras and prayers. Some of the common mantras recited during the Vishnu Puja are “Om Namo Narayanaya” and “Om Vasudevaya.”
The puja is usually performed by a Hindu priest or by the head of the household, who acts as the main performer of the ritual. All members of the family or those participating in the puja are expected to participate in the chanting of mantras and offerings of flowers and fruits. Vishnu Puja is an important aspect of Hindu culture and spirituality, and is widely practised across India and among Hindu communities worldwide, particularly during the festival of Janmashtami, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The specific form of Lord Vishnu worshipped during the Puja may vary based on regional and community customs.
